Tuckahoe is a village in the town of Eastchester.
Over the past decade or so, Tuckahoe has enjoyed an influx of investor capital, which has resulted in the redevelopment of many of its former commercial and industrial areas. Several previous and current projects include: the conversion of a former Avon factory to the high-end Rivervue Apartment Complex (located on the corner of Lake and Main Street), the new construction of residential, retail and medical office properties along the Main Street cooridor, the shuttering of two gas stations, the updated and refurbished Tuckahoe Train Station (which includes a recently opened Starbux), and the beautifully restored town hall which lives on as the Generoso Pope Foundation. Additional residential construction is occurring at the former site of Westcon on Main Street, and additional construction / redevelopment is expected in the downtown section of Crestwood as well. |
The Tuckahoe Union free School District is located 25 minutes north of midtown Manhattan in a small, suburban community adjacent to the Village of Bronxville. The Tuckahoe Schools service the Town of Eastchester in the communities of Tuckahoe, Bronkville and Chester Hights, totalling in enrollment of aproximately 1100 student grades K-12. This small school setting has fostered a unique educational enviornment with the added personal touch of a small town within the largest metropolitan area in the United States. The strength that comes from within a small town, such as Tuckahoe, has been tested and trusted many times; a strong pride by all that call Tuckahoe home.
